Question 3

Can I cancel my booking?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes, under the following conditions:
Free of charge — if cancelled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start date; the amount paid is refunded in full.
Less than 24 hours’ notice or no-show — the equivalent of one rental day is withheld; the balance is refunded.
How to cancel:
from your customer account, under “My orders” or “My bookings”;
using the “Cancel order” button in the confirmation email or in the website footer (also available without an account, using the order number and email address);
by email to office@inchirieriutilaje.ro or by phone during business hours.
Refunds are made within 14 days to the account used for payment. If you only wish to move the rental period, please contact us: in many cases the dates can be changed without cancelling the order.

Question 4

Is a deposit required?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. The deposit is refundable, and its amount depends on the machine:
Hitachi ZX48U-6 mini excavator: RON 500;
Hitachi ZX170W-6 excavator: RON 1,500;
Hitachi ZX210-6 excavator: RON 2,000;
Liebherr PR726XL bulldozer: RON 2,000;
Hitachi ZX250LC-7 excavator: RON 2,500.
The deposit is paid together with the rental, based on the pro forma invoice, before the machine is handed over. It is not a cost: it is not invoiced as revenue and is not subject to VAT.
It is refunded in full within 5 working days of the machine being returned in good condition. In the event of damage, only the actual repair cost, supported by documents, is withheld; normal wear and tear is not. See also about the refundable deposit.

Question 5

Are the machines rented with an operator?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. All machines are rented with an operator: each machine is operated by a qualified plant operator employed by the company, experienced in the relevant type of work.
The operator is included in the daily rate shown on the website and is not listed as a separate service.
One working day means 8 working hours, Monday to Saturday.
You do not need a plant operator certificate or your own staff for the machine.
Why operator-only: a wrong manoeuvre near existing pipes, cables or foundations costs far more than the difference in price. An operator who knows the machine completes the same job faster, and responsibility for the manoeuvres remains with us.
You decide what needs to be done on site; the operator carries out the work and can recommend faster or safer solutions.

Question 6

Do you provide machine transport?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. Two options are available:
Delivery to the job site — carried out by us, on a trailer suited to the machine. The cost is RON 1,500 for the first 75 km round trip, then RON 9.5 for each additional kilometre. The distance is calculated by road from our base in Alba Iulia.
Collection from our base — no transport cost, using your own trailer suitable for the machine category.
Delivery within Alba Iulia, Sebeș or Teiuș costs RON 1,500. For more distant locations, such as Deva, RON 9.5 is added for each kilometre beyond the first 75 km round trip. We deliver throughout Alba County and, for longer projects, across Romania.
The exact cost is shown automatically on the machine page once you select the county and town of the job site. The delivery date is confirmed by phone; in the Alba Iulia area the machine usually arrives the next day. See also service areas and transport costs by town.

Question 7

How is the rental price calculated?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

The rental price consists of the following components, all shown by the calculator before you confirm the booking:
Daily rate — includes the machine and the operator; one day means 8 working hours, Monday to Saturday. Rates range from RON 800/day (mini excavator) to RON 2,500/day (bulldozer).
Minimum period — 10 days.
Insurance — RON 40/day, mandatory.
Handover inspection — RON 150, charged once per order.
Attachments — optional, from RON 45/day (bucket) to RON 180/day (hydraulic breaker).
Transport — RON 1,500 for the first 75 km round trip, then RON 9.5/km; no charge if you collect the machine from our base.
Deposit — refundable, between RON 500 and RON 2,500, depending on the machine.
Example: the ZX48U-6 mini excavator for 10 days in Alba Iulia = RON 8,000 rental + RON 400 insurance + RON 150 inspection + RON 1,500 transport = RON 10,050, plus a deposit of RON 500, refunded on return.
Hours beyond 8 per day and work on Sundays or public holidays are invoiced separately. All prices exclude VAT.

Question 8

How do I make a booking?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Bookings are made online in a few steps, and the full price is shown before you confirm:
Choose the machine suited to the job: a mini excavator for yards and house foundations, a larger excavator for deep excavation, a bulldozer for levelling.
Select the rental period in the availability calendar. Booked days are marked, and the minimum rental period is 10 days.
Add the attachments you need (narrow bucket, hydraulic breaker, auger) and choose delivery to the job site or collection from our base.
Click “Add to cart” and complete the order with your billing details, as an individual or a company.
The operator is included in the daily rate and does not need to be added separately. After placing the order you receive a pro forma invoice by email with the total amount; the machine is handed over once payment has been received.
If you are unsure which machine is right for the job, call us on +40 744 66 77 33. Based on the work and site conditions, we will recommend the appropriate machine and rental period.

Question 9

Which emission standard do the machines meet?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Our fleet meets the Stage V emission standard, the latest European regulation for construction equipment engines (Regulation (EU) 2016/1628).
Very low emissions of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides compared with previous engine generations.
Access to sites with environmental requirements: public projects, EU-funded projects or urban areas with restrictions.
If the project specification includes environmental requirements, we can provide the machine’s technical specifications; the manufacturer’s official data sheets can be downloaded from each machine page.

Question 10

What is the difference between a crawler and a wheeled excavator?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Crawler excavator (Hitachi ZX210-6, 24 t, or ZX250LC-7, 31.4 t):
very good stability and traction on soft, uneven or sloping ground;
large digging depths: 6.67 m and 6.96 m respectively;
recommended for deep foundations, large earthworks and excavation in difficult ground.
Wheeled excavator (Hitachi ZX170W-6, 19 t):
moves quickly, including on the road, without a trailer, between nearby work sites;
does not damage asphalt or paving;
suited to urban work, utility networks and sites with several locations.
In short: for difficult ground and large volumes, a crawler excavator is recommended; in urban areas, on asphalt or where the machine needs to be moved frequently, a wheeled excavator. For yards with narrow access, the ZX48U-6 mini excavator is usually the right choice. See also the guide crawler or wheeled excavator.

Question 11

Can I extend the rental period?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. Please notify us in writing at least 24 hours before the end of the rental period — by email or from your customer account — or by phone on +40 744 66 77 33.
The additional days are added to the final invoice or to a separate pro forma invoice, as appropriate.
Transport is not charged again, as the machine remains on site.
An extension can only be refused if the machine is already booked by another customer for those days. The availability of the days following your rental period can be checked in the website calendar.
Recommendation: if the duration of the work is not known precisely, book the minimum period and check the availability of the following days in good time.

Question 12

Are the machines insured?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. The machines are insured against the usual risks: motor third-party liability for the trailer and comprehensive (CASCO) cover where applicable. In addition, every rental includes insurance of RON 40/day, which is mandatory and included in the price calculation.
The customer remains liable for:
the insurance excess, up to the limit communicated at booking;
damage caused by negligent use, use not in accordance with the operating manual, or in circumstances that exclude compensation (alcohol, missing required documents, technical modifications);
theft of the machine, if reasonable measures to secure the site were not taken.
Because the machine is operated by our operator, the risk of damage from incorrect manoeuvres is significantly lower than with self-drive hire. The machine’s condition is checked on handover and on return and recorded in the handover report.

Question 13

Is fuel included in the price?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

No. Fuel and lubricants are not included in the daily rate. The rule is “full at handover, full at return”:
the machine is handed over with a full tank, and the level is recorded in the handover report;
during the work, refuelling with diesel is carried out by the customer;
on return, the machine must again have a full tank.
If the machine is returned with less than a full tank, the difference is invoiced at the price of the fuel station nearest to our base, plus a 15% administrative fee.
Consumption depends on the size of the machine, the ground conditions and the intensity of the work: a mini excavator uses considerably less fuel than a 24 t excavator or the bulldozer.

Question 14

Can I transport the machine myself?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. If you have a suitable trailer for the machine category, you can collect it at no transport cost from our base in Alba Iulia, B-dul Republicii nr. 32.
The ZX48U-6 mini excavator (5.1 t) can be transported on a standard plant trailer for small machines.
The 19–31 t excavators and the 18 t bulldozer require a low-loader for abnormal loads and, depending on the route, transport permits.
In this case transport is the customer’s responsibility, in accordance with the Rental Terms: loading, securing and the journey are your responsibility, and the machine’s condition is recorded in the handover report on departure and on return.
The “Collection from base” option is selected directly when booking, and no transport is added to the price. Please let us know the collection time one day in advance so the machine can be prepared.

Question 15

Do prices include VAT?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

No. All prices on the website are shown excluding VAT: the daily rate, insurance, inspection, attachments and transport. VAT (21%) is added on the invoice in accordance with the law.
For companies, VAT is deductible, so the effective cost is the price shown.
For individuals, the final price is the price shown plus 21% VAT. For example, RON 800/day excluding VAT is RON 968/day including VAT.
The refundable deposit is not subject to VAT, as it is not a cost but an amount that is returned.
Payment is made on the basis of a pro forma invoice, before the machine is handed over. The final invoice is issued on return, based on the actual days, and includes any extra hours or missing fuel. The pro forma and the invoice are also available in your customer account.

Question 16

How far in advance should I book?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Bookings can be made at least one day before the start date. The calendar on each machine page shows free and booked days in real time.
We recommend planning according to the season:
Spring and autumn (March–June, September–November) are peak periods for foundations and earthworks; we recommend booking 1–2 weeks in advance.
In summer and winter machines are usually available at a few days’ notice.
Delivery requires the trailer to be scheduled: in Alba Iulia and the surrounding area the machine usually arrives the next day; elsewhere, depending on distance.
A machine confirmed for another customer cannot be booked for the same days. If you have a fixed start date (for example, a concrete pour), we recommend booking early and confirming by phone on +40 744 66 77 33.

Question 17

How can I contact you?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

You can contact us as follows:
Phone and WhatsApp: +40 744 66 77 33
Email: office@inchirieriutilaje.ro
Branch: B-dul Republicii nr. 32, Alba Iulia, Alba County
Hours: Monday–Saturday, 08:00–18:00
For a quick quote, please tell us the type of work (for example, a 10 × 12 m house foundation), the location and the preferred period. We will recommend the appropriate machine and give you the total cost, including transport.
If you already know which machine you need, you can book it directly on the website: check availability in the calendar, see the total price and complete the order online. To collect the machine from our base, please let us know one day in advance.

Question 18

When is a mini excavator the right choice?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

The Hitachi ZX48U-6 mini excavator (5.1 t, 29.1 kW, 0.3 m³ bucket, 3.63 m digging depth) is the right choice for:
foundations for single-storey or two-storey houses and outbuildings;
utility trenches: water, gas, sewerage, cables;
work in confined spaces — yards, gardens, between existing buildings;
landscaping, small swimming pools and topsoil stripping on small areas.
The machine passes through a gate of approximately 2 m and works efficiently in tight spaces. Its indicative output is 40–70 m³ per day, so a typical house foundation is completed in 2–3 days.
When a larger machine is needed: for excavation deeper than 2.5 m, volumes above 300 m³, or hard clay or compacted gravel, we recommend an excavator of 19 t or more. The mini excavator rate starts from RON 800/day, with operator.

Question 19

What happens if the machine breaks down?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Please notify us immediately on +40 744 66 77 33 in the event of any damage, accident or technical problem, and stop work if the machine can no longer be operated safely.
Technical faults not attributable to the customer (normal wear, operating defects) are repaired by us, at our expense.
Damage beyond normal wear and tear — damage, missing parts, unauthorised interventions — is invoiced on the basis of a technical report, at actual cost.
Our operator checks the machine daily and can resolve minor issues on site. For other situations we respond as quickly as possible and inform you from the outset of the estimated repair time.

Question 20

Which areas do you deliver to?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Our base is in Alba Iulia, and our main area of operation is Alba County: Alba Iulia, Sebeș, Teiuș, Aiud, Blaj, Cugir, Ocna Mureș, Zlatna, Câmpeni and the surrounding localities. We also deliver regularly to neighbouring counties — Hunedoara (Deva, Orăștie, Hunedoara), Sibiu, Cluj and Mureș.
For larger projects we deliver across Romania. Over long distances, long-term rentals are particularly cost-effective, as the transport cost is spread over several weeks of work.
The first 75 km round trip cost RON 1,500, then RON 9.5/km.
The exact cost is shown on the machine page once you select the job site location.
See service areas and transport costs or call us on +40 744 66 77 33 for an estimate.

Question 21

Which payment methods do you accept?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

After placing the order you receive a pro forma invoice with the total amount: rental with operator, insurance, inspection, attachments, transport and the refundable deposit.
Payment is made in full, by bank transfer, before the machine is handed over. The pro forma invoice is valid for 5 days; please quote its number in the transfer reference.
The final invoice is issued on return, based on the actual days. Extra hours, missing fuel or any damage are settled on it.
The deposit is refunded within 5 working days of the machine being returned in good condition.
Payment terms are the same for companies and individuals. Late payments incur penalties of 0.1% per day, not exceeding the invoice value.
The pro forma and the invoice are available at any time in your customer account, under “My orders”, in PDF format.

Question 22

How do I check machine availability?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Availability is shown in real time, directly on the website:
On each machine page, the calendar marks days already booked or blocked for maintenance. Once you select the start and end dates, the price is calculated immediately.
From the home page you can search by period: select the dates and the machine type (excavator, mini excavator, bulldozer), and the website shows only the machines available on those days. The selected period is carried over automatically to the machine page.
The calendar uses the same data as confirmed bookings, so days shown as free can be booked immediately. When you place the order, the period is reserved for you.
If the machine you want is not available, we recommend a similar model — for example the ZX170W-6 wheeled excavator instead of a crawler excavator — or moving the period by a few days.

Question 23

How deep can the excavators dig?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

The maximum digging depth varies from model to model:
Hitachi ZX48U-6 mini excavator: 3.63 m
Hitachi ZX170W-6 wheeled excavator: 5.83 m
Hitachi ZX210-6 crawler excavator: 6.67 m
Hitachi ZX250LC-7 crawler excavator: 6.96 m
Indicative recommendations:
house foundation without a basement (1–1.5 m) — the mini excavator is sufficient;
house with a basement (2.5–3.5 m) — the 19 t excavator;
tanks, deep pits, industrial building foundations or retaining walls — the 24–31 t crawler excavators.
The values given are the maximum depths from the manufacturer’s documentation, with the arm fully extended. In practice, for deep excavation the working radius, the slope of the excavation (pit walls are not dug vertically) and the location of spoil storage also matter. Full specifications are available on each machine page.

Question 24

Are there any hidden costs?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

No. The calculator on the machine page shows the total before payment, and the pro forma invoice itemises every component:
the daily rental, with operator included (minimum 10 days);
insurance, RON 40/day;
the handover inspection, RON 150;
the selected attachments, if any;
transport, if you choose delivery (calculated on the actual road distance);
the refundable deposit.
After return, only usage beyond the standard conditions is invoiced, and only if it occurs:
hours beyond 8 per day or work on non-working days;
fuel missing from the tank (the machine is handed over and returned with a full tank);
damage found at the final inspection, at the actual repair cost.
If the working schedule is respected and the machine is returned with a full tank, the amount paid is exactly the amount on the pro forma invoice.

Question 25

What documents are required to rent a machine?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Few documents are required, because the machine is operated by our operator:
Individuals: name, address and phone number for the invoice; an identity document at handover.
Companies: VAT number and billing details (entered with the order) and, if you are not collecting the machine in person, an authorised representative.
A handover report is signed at handover, recording the machine’s condition, engine hours and fuel level.
No plant operator certificate is required: our operator holds one and is responsible for the manoeuvres.
For the work itself, approvals and permits remain the customer’s responsibility, in accordance with the Rental Terms: building or demolition permit, approvals from utility providers (water, gas, electricity) to protect underground networks, and a permit to occupy the public domain if the work is carried out on the street. Details in the guide permits required for excavation.

Question 26

What work can be done with an excavator?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

With an excavator and the right attachment, most earthworks can be carried out:
excavation for foundations, basements and tanks — with the standard bucket;
trenches for water, sewerage, gas and cables — with the narrow bucket, at the required width;
demolition and breaking concrete or rock — with the hydraulic breaker;
levelling and sloping — with the grading bucket;
holes for posts and fences — with the auger;
loading and handling of soil, rubble and materials — with the bucket or the grapple;
topsoil stripping and site preparation.
Attachments are selected when booking, from RON 45/day (buckets) to RON 180/day (hydraulic breaker). Each machine page includes the list “Work that can be carried out” and cost examples. For levelling large areas, a bulldozer is usually more efficient than an excavator.

Question 27

Do the machines have air conditioning?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Yes. All machines in the fleet — the mini excavator, the crawler and wheeled excavators and the bulldozer — have an enclosed, air-conditioned cab.
This directly affects the pace of the work:
In summer, the operator can work without long breaks due to high temperatures, and the work progresses steadily.
In winter, the heated cab allows safe work at low temperatures.
Dust and noise are largely kept out, which keeps the operator focused throughout the day.
For you, this means a full 8-hour working day, whatever the season.

Question 28

What work does the Liebherr bulldozer carry out?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

The Liebherr PR726XL bulldozer (18 t, 125 kW, air-conditioned cab) is designed for heavy surface earthworks:
levelling and shaping the ground;
pushing and spreading soil, backfilling;
stripping the topsoil before construction;
preparing platforms for houses, industrial buildings, car parks or access roads;
sloping and profiling embankments.
On large areas, a bulldozer is several times more productive than an excavator, as it works continuously by pushing. For excavation in depth (foundations, trenches) an excavator is required.
The rate starts from RON 2,500/day with operator, excluding VAT, for a minimum of 10 days. See also the guide the cost of levelling land.

Question 29

Which excavator is suitable for a house foundation?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

The choice of machine depends on three factors: foundation depth, site access and volume of soil.
Indicative recommendation

Type of workRecommended machineDigging depthRate/day

Single or two-storey house foundation, narrow accessHitachi ZX48U-6 mini excavator (5.1 t)3.63 mRON 800
Foundation with basement, open siteHitachi ZX170W-6 wheeled (19 t)5.83 mRON 1,200
Deep foundation, large volumeHitachi ZX210-6 (24 t)6.67 mRON 2,200

When the mini excavator is sufficient
The 5-tonne mini excavator passes through a 2 m gate, does not damage yard paving and completes a house foundation in 2–3 days. It is the right machine for most individual homes.
When a larger machine is needed
We recommend a machine of 19 tonnes or more if the excavation is deeper than 2.5 m, the volume of soil exceeds 300 m³, the ground is hard clay or compacted gravel, or the soil must be loaded directly into a dump truck.
For an exact recommendation, contact us on +40 744 66 77 33 with the foundation dimensions.

Question 30

How much does it cost to excavate 100 m³ of soil?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

The cost depends on the machine’s output and the type of ground; rentals are charged per day, not per cubic metre.
Indicative daily output
MachineIndicative output / dayCost per day, with operator
5.1 t mini excavator40–70 m³RON 800
19 t wheeled excavator100–150 m³RON 1,200
24 t excavator150–250 m³RON 2,200

Factors affecting the cost
Type of ground — hard clay or compacted gravel reduce output by 30–50% compared with topsoil.
Soil removal — if the soil does not stay on site, a dump truck is also required.
Access — a confined site requires a smaller machine and therefore more working days.
Prices exclude VAT and do not include transport of the machine to the job site. The minimum rental period is 10 days.

Question 31

Is a permit required to demolish a building?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Legally, demolition is a dismantling work and falls under Law no. 50/1991 on the authorisation of construction works.
Documents required before work begins
Demolition permit, issued by the local council where the building is located.
Urban planning certificate, required before the permit.
Proof of ownership of the property.
Waste management plan — rubble is handed over to an authorised operator.
Responsibilities
We provide the appropriate machine — an excavator with a hydraulic breaker — together with the operator. Obtaining the permits remains the responsibility of the owner or the contractor.
This information is for guidance only and does not replace specialist legal advice.

Question 32

Can I rent a machine without an operator?

Inchirieri Utilaje team · Accepted Answer

Why we rent only with an operator
No plant operator certificate is required. Our operator holds one, so you do not need to find qualified staff.
Responsibility for the manoeuvres lies with us. A wrong manoeuvre near existing networks or foundations costs far more than the difference in rate.
The machine is operated by a specialist. An experienced operator completes the same work in significantly less time.
Clear handover and return. Abnormal wear and damage caused by incorrect manoeuvres are no longer a risk for the customer.
What the rate includes
The daily rate includes the machine and the operator. Fuel is not included — see Is fuel included in the price?
