Is a permit required to demolish a building?

Legally, demolition is a dismantling work and falls under Law no. 50/1991 on the authorisation of construction works.

Documents required before work begins

  • Demolition permit, issued by the local council where the building is located.
  • Urban planning certificate, required before the permit.
  • Proof of ownership of the property.
  • Waste management plan — rubble is handed over to an authorised operator.

Responsibilities

We provide the appropriate machine — an excavator with a hydraulic breaker — together with the operator. Obtaining the permits remains the responsibility of the owner or the contractor.
